My school had motion sensor condiment dispensers that were supposed to be more hygienic and they did this exact same thing. They did not last long

There's a cheaper solution. Just get them a lab coat or a hat that has reflective material on it.

My bathroom used to have motion lights and it was the best and worst thing ever, I could just walk in and use the toilet at 2am without flicking a switch but the downside was when I have my steamy hot showers the sensor gets covered and it just goes pitch black 😂

There are devices called occupancy detectors. Oftentimes in office spaces they are preferable since motion detectors only detect motion. Since people are not moving all the time, it can sometimes think that no one is in the room. Occupancy detectors use various means of detection like thermal, sound, motion, etc. So even if for some reason a detector is only detecting white people, it would be able to read your body heat
