A repair shop said they fixed this ROG Ally X but when the customer got it back it wouldn't turn on. So I bought it to see if I can get it working again. I wonder if i could send my switch lite to see if you could fix it there's a little bulge near the battery and the cartridge flap is broken and i will send a brand new case with it cuz some fabreeze fluid messed up the case . If you could how much would it cost to pay you to fix it
Just wondering why didn't you try getting the chip from the spare board?
To always wins!, but still fun tu se possible issues with that type of portable machine.
The Ally uses PTM7950 (or a similar phase change material), so unless that was the highest end thermal paste out there, the system is going to run hotter now from it being repasted. Plus there's the issue of pump-out or otherwise drying out with paste, issues PCM pads don't have.
Why you not glue it😅😢
This Connector is a goldmine for repair Shops
this is a guess based on the evidence of your troubleshooting and my years of experience as a Pinkerton and then a Radar Repairer in the Army. My supposition is that the short is the source of the problem, where the game stops working properly. The physical damage is done by the "I know enough" game owner or a shoddy repair "shop". But it's just my guess.
Hello, Steve! I might have a potential Switch 1 repair for you, but I need to wait and see what my friend says regarding the whole situation. I tried to fix it, but just made it worse. At least I changed the thermal paste, and replaced the back plate of the shell. lol If you're interested, and my friend is also interested, I will fill out a form on your website.
"Repair shop fail" Yeah right
He almost got us there I thought Steve wasn’t going to put on the perfect amount of thermal paste 😂
My bet is your second theory. The chip died and then whoever went in to fix didn't realize the connector worked how it does. Kinda the reason why you pointed out the sticker in the previous video.
Steve, did you check the USB port to make sure it wasn't faulty? I'm assuming you did, but that might be low-hanging fruit.
There's a short because whoever tried to fix it, started by disassembling it and instantly messed up, it happens, probably the user, at least he tried if thats the case, messing up is part of learning to fix things.
so, they are right after all.
With the joysticks the msi claw 8 and A8 come with Hall effect sticks as standard for anyone wanting hall effect
An ad after 1m, really?
they for sure never checked to see if it was working after the repair
What was the main issue in thr first place? "The repair shop" had to fix or attempt to fix an issue first and the battery connector was just the added issue.
Nice... Thank you
Shout out to Asus. That battery connector keeps shops busy all the time.
