⚡ Brand new build… so it should be spot on, right? Well… not always 😬 On this job I came across: ❌ Messy terminations ❌ Poor cable routing ❌ Questionable sizing (10mm tails?) ❌ No SPD installed 💡 For a fresh install, you’d expect: ✔️ Clean cable dressing ✔️ Proper sizing ✔️ Neat, professional finish But this one… you be the judge 👇 💬 Comment below: Would you sign this off or be sending it back? ⚡ Toolbox Talks for Electricians – helping electricians reduce stress, gain back time, and earn more money. Shit like this fucks me off if I’m honest… I don’t do enough electrics to become registered and waste money on insurance. Nothing really wrong with my work, but I have to jump through hoops to get it recognised and signed off because I’m deemed incompetent because I don’t have pieces of paper. And then there’s qualified people putting out crap like this.
That board looks excellent to me.He just cant admit it. Ok the tails are small..but thats all
In Spain, you are lucky to get 4mm2 in a flat
Nice to see some slack left on the cables tbf
Its not 10mm , That looks like 16mm 3 core armoured XLPE rated at 80 to 99 amps
By alot of today's standards that's mint
I did it😂 Only had a fiver and the split load board was in denmans bargain bin
It’s absolutely fine
Truly Shocking workmanship here from the new builds
10mm err derrrrrr. It only depends on what is on the other end. Time you pulled your neck in and acted like an adult.
New in 2018 maybe 😂
Pants😂 Its utter shite pal
the feed cable looks like an SWA to me. (You can get these with brown blue and green/yellow cores which would have been better). Would be good to see the glands at both ends of the cable, and what size of fuse / fused switch is at the meter end. It may well be sized to match a fused switch.
Its alright but would have gone for SPD and RCBOs.
Nothing wrong with that. Everyone’s a critic.
I do not like that waste pipe / hose connector above and close to those switches.
To be fair under the circumstances that’s pretty neat. The guy installing it would have been on price work and given a price heavily restricted by the greedy fuckers above him. No doubt he would have had to 2nd fix the entire flat in a day, including ccu in order to make a semi respectable days money. Probably would have needed to have made a start on the next flat as well. This is what happens when companies undercut each other heavily and then just take the profit from the guy actually doing the work. In regards to being fed in 10mm this isn’t really an issue. It would no doubt be fed from a sub main in the hallway or somewhere nearby, clipped direct and on a 50amp mcb. 50amp is more than enough for a 2 bed flat once diversity is applied. Dont get me wrong you’d rather it was fed in 16mm but this is yet another money grab from the greedy fuckers at the top. Everything is cheap and crap nowdays. Built cheap and sold expensive.
Whats wrong with it? Looks pretty good to me.
Why is the fan isolator there? It doesn’t say which fan it is for either.
Ive been out the new build game for a while now thankfully but when i see videos like this i need to comment, you sparks that work for yourselves or small companies have what i call luxuries to take your sweet time or adequate enough to make it all nice and neat and get paid well to do it, the newbuild sparks get paid around £250 for a 2/3 bed property to second fix and the fuseboard is worth 10% of that some even do 5% for fuseboard so NO they dont have the time or money to make it instagram famous but everything is perfectly according to regs (self employed electricians, not so much) in my experience anyway so dont bash them for neatness because different circumstances and that is a perfectly reasonable excuse, not sure about those switches being there though, never seen that
