If you’re feeling overwhelmed with cleaning, this 30 minute cleaning method really helped me... In today’s cosy cottage vlog, I’m tackling something I think a lot of us struggle with, feeling completely overwhelmed by cleaning and clutter. Lately, I’ve been finding it hard to get started, with so many little jobs building up around the house. From grimy windows to dusty corners, cluttered spaces, and areas I’ve been putting off, it all started to feel like too much. So I decided to try a simple approach, setting a 30 minute timer for each task to make cleaning feel more manageable. Instead of trying to do everything at once, I focus on one space at a time, using short bursts to build momentum. In this video, I take you along as I: ✨ clean dirty windows ✨ tackle dust and clutter under furniture ✨ reset a cluttered washing machine area ✨ work through small but satisfying cleaning jobs If you’re looking for cleaning motivation, a realistic clean with me, or a simple cleaning routine to help when you feel overwhelmed, I hope this video gives you a little push to get started. You can share anything you want here. I hope we all show up here because we genuinely care about you. ❤
The worst thing about grief is other people not understanding it. Wanting you to be happy all the time or to get over it and trying to rush you through grieving. They don't understand that grief of loss is something that you don't "get over", but you learn to live with, and that shapes you as a person (personal growth through it). It comes stronger sometimes, sometimes goes away. I like the analogy that it's like an app running in the background. It just meant you loved deeply. <3
I know how grief can be. 90% of my family is gone 😢. Including my son and my husband. So I understand and can relate. ❤
I love the timed short spurts of cleaning. One thing I do is clean as I go. After I wash my face and brush my teeth, I wipe down the sink and clean the mirror. I do a quick wipe of top of toilet and clean toilet with brush. I try to take the extra couple of minutes of hanging up a sweater dress or jacket as soon as it comes off rather than laying on chair. I clean dishes or pots after using them. If I spill something, I clean it up right away. Laundry gets put away right out of dryer. I am a craft person and seamstress. I put things away after I use them. At night I do a quick walk through and pick things up so in morning my kitchen and bathroom sinks are clean I try to put away things and make sure everything has a home. The only real project is vacuuming and mopping but not all in one day. Things always look clean and tidy. I might add that I live alone!
I love your videos so much, they help remind me it is okay to take my time with things and it does not need to be all done "perfectly".. I was diagnosed with heart failure in February this year (at 31 years old) and have been dealing with my own kind of grief in a way, trying to figure out how to live my life now, and your videos do make me feel so much better 😊
I absolutely LOVE this 30 minute idea. Sounds doable for me. And grief exhaustion is REAL.
Thank You for sharing!! 😃 It lets me know I'm not alone!! I have to fight with my self to get it done!! 😏
We squeegee the glass after our shower and before we step out. That prevents water droplets from drying on the glass, leaving mineral marks. Then, I go in a couple of times a month and give it a scrub to remove lingering soap scum. I wear beach shoes to do this task. Pretty painless.
Here is a tip that we use on our shower glass, because we also have very hard water. We put car wax on all the glass about once a year and faithfully squeegee it down after every use. So far it has worked for us, we do not have a water softener either.
I have to invite people over to motivate me to clean. Half way through this marathon, I am questioning my judgement. I end up cleaning the bare minimum and shoving the mess in the spare bedrooms. So now I have to clean 3 rooms, a closet, and the garage. Pulling weeds is an ongoing task. The best things I have managed to do include forcing myself to wash the dishes and keeping the kitchen counter clear.
Sending you love and hugs at this time of year Catherine. I’ve never heard the term grief tax before but that makes perfect sense to me…..it’s exhausting! I love the springtime apart from the sunlight suddenly unearthing all the cleaning that needs to be done 😂. Those flowers are gorgeous x

❤I’m glad you shared your grief story, it helps me personally, I lost my daughter last year, just saw my therapist today and I completely understand. It’s not healthy to hide grief. When you lose someone you love, you become a different person with a different life. Your channel is real life, no judgement here my dear. ❤
During grief foggy times a 20-30 minute chore is all a person can do, no worries. I had to learn to work smarter, not harder as I’ve aged. Usually we are critical of ourselves and it certainly doesn’t accomplish anything good. ❤.
Glad I’m not alone with the grief and tiredness and loss of enthusiasm for doing anything. It’s real, it’s hard and it’s lonely. ❤
Grief is a funny thing it can show up without an invitation and completely floor you, it's my dad's birthday tomorrow he's been gone for 19 years but sometimes memories run from my eyes and there ain't no way to stop them 😢
I've been feeling stuck in a rut for a while now. Fatigue. Brain drain, not sleeping well fir many many reasons, and sadly I have little control over several of those reasons and it's became mentally and emotionally exhausting. It feels lije it gas stacked upon itself over and over, to the point of dread to tackle it all and remain committed to finish what I can. So, I'm going to try to do your 30 minute bursts daily and double up on the weekends. 30 mins am/pm. You impress me with your efforts, skills, and accomplishments. You do inspire me😊
The cat’s in the bag!💜🐈⬛ Catherine, you really need to empty the vacuum. Yours is very full and it puts a strain on your motor. You get better suction when it’s empty. Just a reminder.💜👍
Love to see the mess, makes me feel better about my space!
The fur in the Dyson made me laugh, I live with two Australian Shepherds and their fur is a daily and endless battle.
