Best Comparison of Two Games: Subnautica 2 (2026) and Subnautica (2018). I'll compare the most important similarities, physics, details, textures, and special places in the game. The entire video was created by me (GameLight). Subnautica 2 is an underwater survival adventure set on an all-new alien world, developed by Unknown Worlds. Play alone or with friends in 4-player co-op. Adapt to survive by building custom bases and crafting tools. Explore the unknown to uncover the mysteries hidden within the depths. son this came out 7 hours ago ( i meant the game came out 7 hours ago at the time this video released)
I think you'll have to revisit in two years to give a fair comparison.
The lore: "We don't need these stupid ladder teleports anymore. That's old tech. We are in the future now, we use hand and feet."
For being early access, so far its looking so much better. There are things that do need to be improved, but it will definitely be seen when the game fully comes out
Subnautica vs Subnautica 2 ❌️ Unity vs Unreal Engine ✅️
Solid foundation. People forget how Subnautica 1 was during EA lol
Despite Subnautica 2 being in Early Access, the game is still really enjoyable. A lot of things will be different in the future. Are you planning to purchase the game now or wait until the full release?
Remember guys! We cant kill creatures, theres no vehicles animations "FOR NOW" i think we will be able in the future
5:33 It's such a cool detail that collector leviathan just picked up the tadpol and slammed it to a large rock destroying it completely 🙄
I will admit, the void leviathan at first glance is less intimidating than the ghost leviathan. BUT the animation on both void and collector leviathans is way cooler than the first game. Ghost leviathan just runs into you and deals damage, meanwhile void leviathan: *monch*. That's terrifying. The timing on the new leviathan animation is so crisp too. The fact that you get a moment in the collector's mouth with the teeth before it crunches is just so perfect.
Full release vs day 1 early access
A looooooooot of work to be done, but i feel like it is in very good direction and state! Best of luck developers!
people, subnautica 2 just came out hours ago, and is still on early stage... this is like the dad vs his newborn baby
Creatures not being able to be killed is something I kinda hope they rethink atleast for the smaller creatures cus my current save has a hammer head that followed me all the way to my base and now refuses to leave my tadpole alone. I wish I was exaggerating when I say it literally will follow my tadpole from one end of the void to the other and I can't do anything to get it away. If I could to an area it can't reach It just pops back up when I park in my moonpool
2:47 Why is there even fire tho? If the pressure was too high, it would just cause the ship to crumple, like a soda can, or like a certain submersible, it wouldn’t create a fireball-like explosion
1:49 why so? on the first game, we could kill creatures, but we don't often do it because it doesn't impact the story.... but we also do it as sidequests so i don't see the impact, the reason why they would remove this
Graphics wise Id say sub2 is certainly improved especially ground texturea. But heck as of now i really hate looking at thr water surface from below. Something just doesnt feel right. 0:19
I actually prefer the look of the original
I think that the AI voice in the first Subnautica best encapsulates the overall design differences. Simple yet esthetic, warm yet capable of sending a chill down your spine when you cross into the abyss. Subnautica 2 will probably catch up and beat it with enough time. Then again, after Kerbal Space Program 2 I've learned to not take anything for granted.
Honestly i prefer the graphics of the original
