Reasonably good car for the money. I had one, with a lift and 32s. Never let me down, had really good resale surprisingly. Bit rough around the edges, but nothing you would lose sleep about. Maybe a couple of annoying characteristics which the aftermarket have solutions for if you are so inclined (not dissimilar to the 70 series for example, fixing factory choices)
Good review, for the lane keep assist I think it should be fixed with the 2025 models and up. I have a P300 LTD, ( I think cannon xsr in australia) and disabled it since day 1 never gone on by itself which is great Also the sunglasses holder are on the driver side above your head, you missed it :)
5:04 Increasing the size of the engine? Why that’s unheard of ! Good on GWM!
Sunglasses holder is above the drivers door.
My understanding is the new Cannon and Tank 500 is getting a 3.0 litre in-line 4 diesel, not a V6.
Bought mine 3 years ago and it lived with me at the tip of cape York for 2 years, has never let me down. I'd buy a Beijing billy cart over a Hilux anyday.
Had the Cannon L for 3 years and just updated to the new 2026 cannon vanta. Had zero issues with the last one, I got to just over 100000kms with it and had excellent after service at GWM Mandurah. Just to let you know, the sunglasses holder in the old cannon ute is above the driver door.
I love my 2022 GWM, in South Africa mine is a GWM P Series LS, and let me tell you, the new Ranger / Amarok in cab temperature setting, to adjust it, is total crap, buttons and knobs work
at 5:45 you could barely see the indicator like so many of these newer cars.
Cheap and not nasty. Actually better in many ways
As a former gwm tech a decent use comapred to others in the market, the mechanical side, Average, definitely saw many turbos fail as mentioned, even when have a excellent service history. Lowest seen (36,000kms) And there's a reason why the timing belts are done so often, they're crap, never in my entire career have I seen such a low interval on timing belts, maybe hyundai ,000kms on getz models and others. But they do snap around the 80,000km mark if used as a 4x4 ute and they're a tollerelence motor, so that's a new head and valves cams ect. Overall though their build quality and paint is quite nice, just be prepared for a new turbo and full intake clean or engine replacement if it eats metal from a failed turbo or oil starved from it failing
Test drove one. I was quite impressed
Still waiting a video on the Shark 6.
Hey mate another great review, if you can please review the Mahindra Scorpio 👍💪👍
1.18 Ive got a 23 BT50 and the paints thin as all hell, I think its just every manufacturer cutting costs on paint application tbh.
I didn'r realise cars rusted in Australia..they rust for fun here in the UK..
My mate has a GWM Cannon 3 years old and absolutely flogs it. Normal service intervals and it keeps performing while be half the cost of a Toyota Hilux.
GMH........ GWM. Hey, they bought Lang Lang and GWM have developed a V8. Could we see the return of the V8 sedan 😊
In South Africa, we got the GWM P-Series, in LS, LT and LTD models, the LTD were top spec AUS variants originally, which featured different wheels and a two tone paint job. Later LTD variants had aluminium bumpers which looked more offroady but weren't as durable. The 2025 update changed the P-series name to the P300 where as the Australian cannon alpha would take on the P500 designation. Both features the 2.4 diesel engines. Shared with the Tank 300
The coming three litre diesel for the Alpha and the 500 will be a four cylinder.
