Snake method works great, except your using Kingsford. Kingsford is a Hasbeen company owned by Clorox which means put they put bleach in it, as well as Limestone. I'd change Briquettes. B&B or Jealous Devil. More natural and no harsh chemicals.....

These comments are wild and are so out of touch with the BBQ community. This is a well tested method amongst the BBQ community. You don't have to worry about dirty smoke as everything is dried out and heated up before the snake gets to them to ignite therefore you don't get dirty smoke. My only comment would be usually it's a 2x2 layer.

Form the coals in a triangle (2 rows on bottom then 1 row on top) and start off with 10-14 briquettes in the chimney. Temperatures will stay right around 275 ( my preferred temperature for pork shoulders) and burn for around 8 hours if using B&B. For briskets itll stay at 225 and burn for about 12 hours.

It's crazy. I've never needed a snake. I've never needed a chimney. I never needed any type of gimmick.😂😂😂
