I still miss MatPat and of course, I definitely don't think these channels will ever be as good as the MatPat era, but I still genuinely think that this is the best possible way that his retirement could have gone. I feel like we are at a turning point for the movie industry. With indie movies like Irong Lung or shows run by indies like Glitch, people come to realize that they've lost what made movies good in the first place. Actual art. You don't need hundreds of millions of dollars, you just need people who care.

I think you’re absolutely right that people want authenticity these days, not only for the reasons you mentioned, but also because of the increasing flood of AI slop. I’m much more likely to watch a video of an actual person talking into a camera than one that just has animated images with voice over because chances are that it’s AI generated garbage and I’m sure many others feel the same. So I totally understand and support this shift.
For those who don't get it: the film history section is an example of the new kind of content that Lee wants to make, in addition to the current stuff (not replacing it, don't worry)
Even though I still love you guys all the same, there is some genuine criticism that can be made about this channel. I do wish you guys could stop with the weekly schedule so you can focus on making higher quality videos instead of having to rush videos that need more time in the oven. Also, while I will always enjoy seeing his editing, you guys should really start branching away from the MatPat art style and do your own thing.
It is really refreshing to just have a youtube channel come out here and tell us there will be some changes instead of just becoming different from one day to the next
