Okay, so in the Family Guy crossover, they arrived at Springfield. The Griffins live in Rhode Island and the Simpsons live in Oregon. That means to escape some controversy they went across the entirety of the US.

In the new Simpson’s episode “Marge The Lumberjill”, Homer goes to a bar and someone asks him where he is from. Homer replies with Springfield and then the man says “The one in Oregon?” And Homer replies with “I don’t know.” This is probably the biggest clue.
