What the town looks like now empty
The Blair Witch was a territorial demon that could manifest and alter the physical world. The trio were a group of young people who had no knowledge of what they were up against.

Not really sure why Mike would go along with a plan of killing a girl he never met, then faking his death and leaving his entire life and family behind. For what? Josh had motive if they were exes and he hated her but Mike sure didnt.
Fun fact:The studio came up with different endings, ones with Mike being hung or crucified, but the filmmakers fought to keep the one with Mike standing in the corner.

There was no Shark in Jaws either, it was all a metaphor.
They tried out 4 different endings. * One where Mike is hanged, dead (suggesting Blair Witch) * one where Mike is crucified, dead ( suggesting Blair witch) * One where Mike is staring demonly Heather down as she comes down the cellar. possessed OR, THIS ONE is actually really supportive of your theory! I´m surprised you did not include it into the clip. * Last one is the one they choose which was the ambigious one where we simply dont know is he possessed, paparalyzed or does he simply jsut wait and keep heather focused on him so Josh can come from her behind and bash her in the dead killing her. Out of all 4 they def went with the right one since it causes such a big speculation. but a well done theory there bravo.,

Interesting theory. But, what about the children who were laughing and shaking the tent? Mike may have set a couple of speakers outside to create the laughing, ok, but how did he make the tent shake? They would have to had accomplices to do that, which seems unlikely.
Because the legend is litterally the hermit brought down two kids, one would stay in the corner, while the other kid was being killed.
The thing I like best about this movie is IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT THE CAUSE IS. Supernatural or not, it’s terrifying, and it’s infinitely scarier not knowing exactly what’s going on. Whether she’s seeing some kind of supernatural abomination or someone she used to trust about to brutally end her life, something very wrong is happening and it’s scary.
This theory actually makes perfect sense, considering this was the case with the sequel. It wasn’t the witch that actually killed the girl, it was the people.
