The last part of yulius and Subaru together was really well adapted

Subaru was self proclaimed knight and Julies was honored hero when they fought in season 1 and now no one knows Julius and he is self proclaimed knight while Subaru is honored hero

At that time, Subaru had been left alone, so he knew how it felt to be alone. That’s why he couldn’t leave Julius there, even if Julius was being prideful.

The anger that Julius displayed on the stairs as well as his flashbacks really showed off their friendship to me. It is very much like a sibling rivalry. They are without a doubt good friends, but until now we've only seen Subaru's side of the hostility. I believe Julius respects Subaru very much, however, Julisu has led most of his life striving to be a knight worthy of Reinhard. To see Subaru, a man who publicly ostracized the Lugunica Knights kill an Archbishop, kill two of the Great Witchbeasts, and rally the people of Priestella must have been a blow to his ego that he hasn't acknowledged until this moment. I enjoyed this episode a whole lot.

Man that shit was on par with the Otto - Subaru confrontation from Straight Bet in season 2. Brilliant. This show just keeps getting better. I have NO FEAR whatsoever for the rest of this season's adaptation. They're doing an incredible job.

Subaru has taken his own life before, but after the witch's tea party he promised to value his life more. So far its worked out and he hasn't lost anyone dear to him and needed to force a reset but he is trying his best to make each life count. He'd probably try and fight Reid until he killed him rather than commit suicide though.

I've always personally believed, all that what Subaru said that day wasn't wrong, the way he said was wrong.

For Julius and basically everyone in the world the title of "sword saint" means an insurmentable mountain. Its the peak of the peak that no one can reach. Child Reinhard beating his master in a duel showed him that. Because of this Julius wanted to be "the finest knight" since strength was something already taken. But he lost that too. The amount of Subaru-Julius-Reinhard parralels and innuendos in this episode is crazy.

Yeah, it really does feel like Julius was the one who aggressively went after the Sword Saint. But that’s because he needed to prove his strength to everyone—and more than that, he needed to win. His strength feels to him like the only thing he has left, especially after nearly everyone had forgotten about him. That desperation made him impatient and brash. And that’s also why he went back for a second round—because he couldn’t live with people forgetting about him AND losing the one thing he still held onto ; his capabilities as the greatest Knight. On top of that, there was his pride, and the fact that he didn’t want to leave a pitiful impression on Anastasia, someone he used to share a deep bond with as her knight. The thought of replacing that connection with an image of himself as some incompetent ptiful weakling would’ve been unbearable. That’s why I believe he went alone to fight and win the second time— but also, so that, if he lost, everyone wouldn't see him ridicule himself further. I also believe that him being an Astrea had a lot to do with it. What makes it even better is the parallel between Julius getting utterly destroyed and Subaru’s own beatdown. Just like Subaru made a fool of himself in the royal castle back in season 1—driven by insecurity and the fear that Emilia would shut him out—Julius acts out of an unreasonable pride and the terror of losing all his worth in the eyes of others, especially Anastasia. On the other hand, it's sad to see given how much I like Julius.

They are going to have to add the Boys Love tag to this season of Re:Zero now

Julius's situation is similar to Subaru's in the past. Everyone has lost their memory of him, and he himself doubts his own existence. Julius's only way to prove his usefulness is through his swordsmanship, but when he meets Reid, all his pride and skill crumble. He clings to that hopeless battle to keep everyone from being disappointed, just like Subaru did before.

Well there you have it. The greatest knight famed for defeating powerful foes, and the no-name loser who calls himself a knight. What a duo they are.

I love how Subaru's and Julius' relationship has developed throughout the series. Both great characters.
