Subaru hates Julius for harming his so badly in Arc 3, but at the same time he can't help but respect the man who has lent his assistance to him through some of his greatest challenges. Julius detests Subaru for his mockery of the knightly order that he worked so hard to belong to, but he respects him as well because Subaru is the one who openly scorns the things Julius wishes he could. Julius helps Subaru become a better knight, and Subaru helps Julius become free of his restraints. Julius never forgot how free it felt to be Juli, and Subaru never forgot the shame of his blunder. They've helped each other grow in a very significant way.

This episode damn near moved me to tears. There was just so much MEANING wrapped into literally every frame of it, I could feel that shit perforating my body whilst watching. Subaru/Julius one of the greatest dynamics in the whole series.
It makes Julius' apology make more sense, where he said he cannot take back his actions but he is sorry for how he humiliated Subaru. His actions were justified as a Knight, but his heart was actually moved by Subaru's confidence in that moment. Also Reid can cut concepts, and him saying he can cut light is what reveals this. Tappei said in an interview (I believe) that Reid could just one shot Regulus through his authority since he slices through concepts. Something not even Reinhard could do
A bit of extra context: In the novels Julius not only mentioned that he figured out that this is Reid himself, but he also says that the Reid depicted on the coins is an older version of him. So that pretty much gives us confirmation that he truly is human and this is some kind of alternative version of himself that somehow came to be. Overall there wasn't a lot of cut content in this episode, though one thing that is a little unfortunate is that in the novels Julius conflict with himself is described a little more. Not only has everybody forgotten about him and his hard work, when getting packed up by Reid it is also described how whilst being punched he could feel the absence of the connection to his spirits which were like his whole thing. Aside from the isolation he also has a different mental struggle because his brother's name got eaten. He only knows that Joshua is his brother because Subaru told him and, since Julius was actually just adopted into a higher family, he now has to wonder whether he actually is the heir of the house or that's just a lie he believes because of Gluttony (he isn't actually the heir, but it still gives him some extra mental struggle)

Well now that reid has finally showed up, dun fact and spoilers! Reid is stated to be able to cut anything, light, blackholes, dimensions, and even intangeble objects like authorities. He was also stated by the author that he could easily behead regulus without even having to find out his weakness, which keep in mind, is impervious to all concepts and is removed from all concepts while maintaining his pressence.
