Kimimaro and Haku are among the most tragic characters for me. Unlike Naruto and Gaara, who eventually found good people to bond with, they formed bonds with the wrong people, which sealed their fates because they provided a sense of purpose they couldn't give up. At least Haku had a bittersweet ending since Zabuza truly cared for him. Kimimaro, however, gave everything to Orochimaru, who couldn't care less. It really makes you wonder: is it better to be lonely or to have friends who lead you to destruction?

The sand ninjas especially those three usually go through rigorous training. despite being the weakest village the sand village is known to produce from time to time game changers individuals which makes them fearsome.
Kimimaro is one of the most interesting characters. His kekkei genkai is really cool.
I usually comment this on episode 127 reactions but anyway: Gaaras criticism of Guy is quite significant, I think. If you think of Naruto battles as battles of philosophy with the stronger one succeeding, then this is the point where Gaara understands why he won against Lee during the Chunin Exams. Remember how Gaara defeated Lee, but was ready to give up afterwards and almost looked kind of envious when Guy cared for Lee afterwards? Gaaras talk with Lee after the Kimimaro battle is the pay off to that. Kimimaro is just as prepared to blindly throw his life away for the person he perceives as his parent figure as Lee was. If Lee had been in the same position as Kimimaro, Lee would have 100% died for Guy, the same way Kimimaro died for Orochimaru. Of course, Guy loves and cares for Lee, unlike Orochimaru. But Lee would have been dead all the same. It finally clicked for Gaara how dangerous this kind of blind idolization is. He didn't understand before what drove Lee (or Naruto) to this level of commitment, but after witnessing (vs Lee) and understanding (vs Naruto) Gaara has now finished his arc by seeing the downfall of blind idolization in Kimimaro. And the crazy part is: Lee still doesn't get it. He saw and heard the same things that Gaara saw and he isn't able to draw the parallel. He gets offended when Gaara criticizes him. Imagine Gaara being the careful observer of the nuances of human relationships.
Kimimaro never really had a choice to follow someone good. Haku didn't have a choice to follow someone better. But Sasuke? He had plenty of choices, a home, and people who cared for him. He’s the only one walking into the darkness willingly
