Yeah no joke, Reid Astrea The First Sword Saint is not by any means of a joke with his Martial Prowess, Swordsmanship and Swordplay as he can cut through space, concepts and light.

2:58 Reid can cut through even concepts; he meant it literally when he says that line. 5:59 I lowkey like how Reid is laughing like a maniac here lol, bro's a lunatic 12:53 He's having his S1 Subaru moment 💀 17:46 Julius was asking for it, argue with Subaru? ON THE STAIRS????? Even Subaru noticed Julius is acting exactly like how he did when he accepted Julius' challenge.

So the others are the top people in their kingdom but Reinhard is the strongest in the world. All the kingdoms literally have a law where he leaves Lagunaica everyone immediately readies their armies and panics

BTW Emilia in combat is faster than light, so while watching this, other than garfiel and julius, no one knew what they were watching other than when the momment before emilia attacked.

The 3 months thing is real. Reid mastered the sword in 3 months. Prior he was only fighting bare handed.

Reid Astrea is in my opinion one of the biggest goober. Bro was so strong that he said to himself "Nah, not gonna use a sword. I'm gonna use Chopsticks." with him being at the top of swordmanship anything that can be swung like a sword is enough for him. If Reinhard didn't exist he would also be the strongest character in the entire series. Just for how broken he is, if he fought Regulus he would win and cut through his authority. Something even Reinhard wasn't able to do. Also what Reid said with he only swung the sword for 3 month is correct. Only took him 3 month to master the sword.

One of the things that Julius has had to live most of his life was the fact that, no matter how much he trained, worked, improved and kept improving, even at the point that he was called "The finest knight", he had to live in the shadow of the insurmountable mountain that is Reinhard. Yes, you are a great knight but we also got Reinhard. Ironically, he also created the same inferiority complex on his adopted brother Joshua, who was born sickly.

Som context from season 1 : By insulting the Order of the Knights at the castle, Subaru effectively put a target on his back. His actions gave every knight a reason to harm him or demand compensation for mocking their order. Some of the less tolerant members might have even gone as far as to kill him later on.That's why Julius humiliated him in front of everyone in the arena and gave him a beating in front of everyone, this way the other knights won't see him as a real threat to their order but a buffon whose words you shouldn't take too seriously. Julius sacrificed some of his reputation that he holds dear to protect Subaru and stained his spotless track record for Subaru’s sake since preying on the weak and beating him like that is not very knightly and he is all about proper etiquette and knighthood. In this episode. Julius went back for a second round—because he couldn’t live with people forgetting about him AND losing the one thing he still held onto ; his capabilities as the greatest Knight. 14:40 : That's why he say "that it's the only thing he has"....left On top of that, there was his pride, and the fact that he didn’t want to leave a pitiful impression on Anastasia, someone he used to share a deep bond with as her knight. The thought of replacing that connection with an image of himself as some incompetent ptiful weakling would’ve been unbearable. That’s why I believe he went alone to fight and win the second time— but also, so that, if he lost, everyone wouldn't see him ridicule himself further. I also believe that him being an Astrea had a lot to do with it. What makes it even better is the parallel between Julius getting utterly destroyed and Subaru’s own beatdown. Just like Subaru made a fool of himself in the royal castle back in season 1—driven by insecurity and the fear that Emilia would shut him out—Julius acts out of an unreasonable pride and the terror of losing all his worth in the eyes of others, especially Anastasia. On the other hand, it's sad to see given how much I like Julius.

I just read this chapter in the novels. Basically Julius mentality at that point is that his physical strength is the only thing that is left of him. He lost his family name Literally lost his brother. Lost his connection to the spirits. Even his lady to whom he pledged loyalty doesn't remember him. So the physical strength is the only thing that he's got. And Reid just crumbled the only thing he's got. That's why he is so desperate in this episode

I did NOT expect to cry this episode but the bromance was too much. When Julius reveals what he felt when Subaru made his speech at the end I just couldn't. He's my new GOAT of Re:Zero.

In that chapter, Julius had great respect for Subaru's courage in defending his candidate for the throne. Despite being weak, he earned everyone's hatred, but Julius' pride... now imagine Julius' rejection and pain at killing Subaru, whom he held in high esteem, during chapter 23 of season 1.

Fun Fact: Julius wasn't just moved when he saw Subaru make that declaration at the Royal Selection; he actually saved him from certain death there. Julius didn’t challenge Subaru in the coliseum out of pride; he knew Subaru was going to be killed by the other knights once the Royal Selection was over, so that’s why he beat him up in the coliseum in front of everyone else, in order to limit the damage. After that, there’s a cut scene in the first season where Julius asked the commander to punish him and even dismiss him. After so much insistence, the commander only confiscated his sword for three weeks and didn’t allow him to leave the castle. Felix scolded him, but Julius just said he had his reasons for doing that.

I think Julius will win when he stop saying he is a knight that is why he carries a sword. There is a difference between a person who carried the sword to be the strongest and a person who is the night that's why he carries a sword. If your working and making strength as a condition of something else. Family, knight, guard. That isn't strength. Someone who spent his time swinging a sword because he likes it because he want to be the best at it is way stronger. Unless Julius see that he will never win against Reid Asterea. Reid will never acknowledge him.
