Chronic diseases surpass infectious killers

The Health Ministry says that non communicable diseases have become the highest killers in the country. According to Statistics South Africa, non communicable diseases have surpassed communicable diseases since 2016. Community members in the Giyani area in Limpopo, have called on the government to ensure that healthcare facilities, particularly in rural areas, are adequately equipped to meet growing health needs. Health authorities have conducted an awareness campaign on hypertension, diabetes and certain cancers, which are increasingly affecting the communities.
