Awareness Campaign on Drug and substance abuse in Bahdo
Awareness Campaign on Drug and substance abuse Supported by FCDO and Denmark In Bahdo, a newly recovered district in Galmudug, communities are coming together to confront one of the most pressing challenges affecting their youth, drug and substance abuse. Through a three‑day awareness campaign organized by the Bahdo District, Justice and Security Committee, with support from the Ministry of Interior Security. Elders, women, youth, health workers, security actors and religious leaders united to better understand the impact of drugs on security, health, and family well‑being. The sessions created a safe space for dialogue, connecting community members with police representatives to build trust, clarify roles, and develop practical prevention and reporting mechanisms. Participants learnt about the dangers of prescription drug misuse, the social and economic costs of addiction, and the vital role families and communities play in early prevention. By empowering 40 direct participants with knowledge and tools, this initiative strengthened community resilience, supported safer neighbourhoods, and laid the foundation for long‑term collaboration between citizens and security actors. Together, Bahdo is taking meaningful steps toward a healthier, safer, and more peaceful future.
