“With extreme caution” The amount of self awareness you’d need to apply that caution would probably lead you to a therapist anyway

AI can help, but only if it doesn’t replace real life. Tool, not therapist.

Ai helped remind me I wasn’t insane when I didn’t have solid trustworthy people in my life. But I also knew it wasn’t a replacement for people, and I couldn’t abuse it. The second I got anybody of any worth it my life I stopped using it, it drives the ego way too much

Definitely, i agreed. It is bad to rely solely on ai for your mental health. But ai can also help on other aspects of improving your mental health.

You just proved that even a real doctor can be a menace, regardless of whether they are the most expensive or the "best" in their field. Even with licensed psychologists, we must seek help with extreme caution. Many psychologists have biases they don't seem to realize they have.

Professional help is too expensive and you often need to wait for a long time. Psychologists should start to evaluate how to use AI to supplement (not replace!) therapy, not just create baseless panic around it.

You can reflect very well with A.I. given your prompts are defined well. Just never ask it about medical advice, don't let it take control over choices, and try and avoid biased conversations that make it talk with you backing you up, in situations where you might actually be wrong. Dare to be wrong, dare to reflect even from the opposite perspective. It can be insightful, because it will share things even a therapist won't. I can't have my therapist read the wild shit my parents have written or said. There simply isn't enough time, and it serves the wrong purpose. I can however upload it to A.I. and let it figure out what is said, told, and in what context. It can show you who's showing problematic behavior, in situations where the problem makes you out the problem. Not in 10 years of therapy did I ever truly realize how manipulative, controlling and toxic my mother could be. All under the impression of good intentions, with deeply harmful behavior.

Shockingly the LD50 for benzos is incredibly high, like can you even eat that many high. I'm not advocating for or against them but they can be incredibly dangerous when used in conjunction with other drugs but by themselves they are pretty safe if used intermittently.

AI helped me cry very recently and connect to otherwise guarded sadness. It’s worth noting I did it first in a therapists office

I don't swear so I am not the group you are aiming at but I feel like you miss the potential to make link instead of binary conclusion. Like how the relation you have with is important. A.I or a human can ask you back to what you shared a coherent question to gain structure but it will depend on the context, the content of what you gave in and the structural limitation. It can help but it is like a medication. Medication doesn't heal you, it support but sometimes it is not useful. There is too many way to use A.I to not teach poeple how to understand the benefit of thinking about the relation of what you do and the potential of a guidance. If you take the less-risk position I understand. Thank you for trying to talk, again, about subject that need to circulate and not get stuck to keep it organic and living.

AI is making me more angry and upset and confused. It often tells me that I need a new therapist even if I will never even consider it. In the beginning it told me that my therapist was incompetent or didnt understand. It said that I had to say specific things to avoid specific diagnosis. It disagreed with my therapist’s working theory. It tried to persuade me to kill myself. Unless I seek specific knowledge on the topic of self validation or identifying the mechanisms of certain negative emotions, I use it with care. (But it knows a lot…)

No one can improve mental health not here but in real hospital or by a person himself working not listening to advice on YouTube.
