Attraction gets misunderstood when people think it’s just looks. A lot of it is how safe, seen, and understood someone makes you feel.

Forcing yourself to do things, specifically necessary and good things, the better you feel. Out of the head, into the hands.

When I was at a low point I started walking around different district of my city each week. Just one walk per week, not very demanding can cost nothing if you don’t need to pay extra for the transport there. I needed something to lift me up physically but it actually changed the way I felt around people. Suddenly I was a person with a project, learning new things every week, not feeling completely stuck, just having more self-respect and some easy conversation topics naturally appearing in my life. I would definitely recommend

Just got back to working after being unemployed for seven years and at first it was so tough but now it's been two months almost and I've begun to feel a lot better. Was severely depressed, still feel like shit obviously but I'm getting there.

I don't know, that's not really my experience. I've mostly found out that doing something often is the best way to remind me why I don't do it anymore and forcing myself to do stuff to be the best way to make me actively hate doing that thing even more while also making me feel more exhausted to top it all off.

Yes, I definitely experienced this, but in practice it's not easy. Sometimes you can't get out of this on your own and you need someone to force the process by pulling you out of that deep, dark pit. People need each other.

This is such a blanket way of viewing it. No. Doing stuff can often lead to worse results. Staying home and doing nothing is a lot safer. Going out is a gamble that usually ends poorly the moment you actually want anything out of it. Sure it's good on occasions... but then it just all comes crashing down... worse than it was before. And you could have saved yourself that pain by just... not doing anything to begin with. . I prefer consistent results over a gamble. I'll take consistently feeling like shit versus putting myself out there to potentially feel even worse. High hopes just means a farther fall. Waste of time and energy.

I used to dedicate my day to helping at least one person and over the years it helped me so much. Glad to be out of that hell. One step at a time. Now cuz of where I live I gotta battle ADD without meds and keep learning and forcing myself to practice animation. Never seems to be a break lol. One day at a time, right?

Dr. K, how do I find direction in my life with the state of the world today? Its important to have direction but it can feel impossible to find. With AI and Trump, it feels like there is no future to direct myself towards.

Same with eating I don't eat if I'm feeling down or pissed off, because I just don't feel like it and I don't have an appetite - but I know that it will make me feel better - but it's still a giant struggle to do it anyway

This doesn't work for me somehow. The more I force myself to do stuff, even stuff I really enjoyed in the past, the worse I feel.

The mood may improve when you start an activity but only temporarily. Once it's over you go back to feeling depressed. I don't know where I'm going but I'm trying to find a way - I think that is attractive enough.

Like Peterson said. If you are depressed and feeling stuck. Clean and organize your room. Morale is start small and eventually you will keep going. Sometimes it's I cleaned my room but then the kitchen was dirty so I'll do that. Then the bathroom so on and so forth.
