In Denmark you can donate your horse to the zoo as feed for the large cats, it's so popular that they sometimes cannot accommodate the wish because the freezer is full

I knew a guy who knew a guy who ran a wolf sanctuary, and they took dead horses as meat donations.

When I was little one of the ancient ponies at the riding stables I went to died. I asked what happened to him now, thinking he would be buried & imagining a grave somewhere on a lovely grassy hill overlooking his favourite hacks. I was told "we send him to the hunt & they feed him to the hounds!"😱 I imagined dog food bowls with his ears & his beautiful fuzzy nose sticking out of them. Scarred me for life!!

I work at a landfill. There isn't a separate part of the landfill for animals, at least at the one I work at. They're just buried with garbage.

We have buried horses for people before, just dig a hole with an excavator and drag the horse in. One time a guy walked it down into the hole and had the vet give him the injection, laid him down, and that's where he died. Pretty morbid, but the worst part is the owner and family crying.

Worked on a ranch in Wyoming and they told me to take the backhoe and dig a whole deep and wide. The vet pulled up and got the horse out of trailer. He then said I might want to step back in case the bullet ricochets, I took one step and bang the horse dropped, pushed it the whole and covered it up.

In Fresno, they called it the Tallow Works. It's on the Southwest Side or "West Side Fresno" in the middle of nowhere. Man, when that wind blows towards the small towns out there, it smells awful. And I am not talking cow poo, we're talking death.

Tosh get me on there my dads a pet cremator. I worked with him for years i can tell you what happens to the animals through the entire process. Yup communal animals are either burned together at once or dumped off at the dump whichever is cheaper to do at the time. Dogs do go in the same kiln. The remains are placed apart from one another for privates. You’d only use the small crematory for cats, rodents, very small dogs etc. Horse-sized crematory holds 4-5 dogs depending on their sizes
