i want to back you up on building houses in the 70k–90k range because we already have a lot of budget houses from amazing creators out there but i always find myself struggling to find a house for my sims once i get into the second or third generation and start getting overwhelmed by how (too) much money they have and want to move in to a decent family house that isn't a super luxurious modern mansion or some old money bella goth core that costs the combined earnings of my sims entire bloodline

simsie should do a 3-color challenge, I feel like she mostly sticks to one or two colors(like this build was brown and green), so maybe adding a third color (in the main spaces, mixed in with the others) would make the house seem more lived-in!
My neighbor actually renovated their house to add a room in their garage. But it was a lot of money to remove the garage door, so they just walled over it from the inside and keep the garage door locked lol. So your fireplace/chimney story isn't unfounded!

On the chimney without a fireplace.... I rent a house built in 1924. I have been warping my brain around the BRIGHT RED BRICK CHIMNEY in my side yard that connects to no fireplace and the inside has no evidence that there was ever a fireplace inside. So your idea that they renovated and removed the fireplace is totally valid cuz that definitely happened to my house at some point in the last 100 years.
"putrid green" just reminds me of Putrice, one of the greatest characters of all time, so by all means use it more often!
If it helps with the chimney situation, a lot of houses where it's cold out have "chimneys" but don't have fireplaces. the chimneys actually have the furnace stuff vented out through them. Otherwise the furnace would be vented out closer to the ground where it's more likely to be covered by snow. So a fake chimney is actually very useful in real life!
I love this build! I love that it's base game too! The more I build the more I actually find it really overwhelming having so many packs to choose from. I'm definitely gonna add this one to my Newcrest to fill in some of those empty lots.
