Look for an orange map marker in the Takashiro region labelled 'Prologue'. Forza Horizon 6 is here and it's a superb new series entry - but what about the technology? Truth is that on the console side, we're looking at technical refinements as opposed to game-changing new visuals - but that's exactly what you get on the PC version, thanks to RTGI and RT reflections. John shares his impressions of the game, Playground's take on Japan, and beyond the PC upgrades, how the game looks on consoles. I wish there was a traffic slider, and we could 2x 5x 10x 20x the traffic. Driving around dodging cars is a fun freeroam activity.
Live preview of PC settings needs to be standard in every game. Great job devs!
I live in Japan and someone in my neighborhood does have a F-150 and it is amazing to see it try to navigate.
John + Forza + Japan… what a great combo!
Forza games are always so well optimized and polished the Japan settings is a dream come true
I really wish you guys would bring back HDR videos for graphical showcases! I remember the Gran Turismo videos looked stunning in HDR. Shame this isnt a thing anymore.
real-time graphical options are always a welcome addition in PC games
Live preview pc graphics settings is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in awhile
See that mount Fuji over there ? You can drive on top of it
Shout out to PGR3, to this day I've been puzzled about how the heck they got away with including real life ad boards and signs
The grounding objects with RTGI on is a big difference. You’re absolutely right that the objects look like they are part of the world rather than a sprite on top of a background or another sprite.
Just imagine you play in Toyio during the Covid pandemic.
If you want to race around Tokyo with pedestrians (that you can run over and send flying into buildings) I suggest doing a retro review of Midnight Club II.
So happy John is covering this one!! no offense to anyone else but Johns videos are always so well made and have MASSIVE AURA.
The thing with the trees being visual only and no physical presence is SUPEEER weird and i really hate it
Thank God it's John.

The tree thing really gets under my skin. My biggest problem with the Forza series is Playground Games obsession with reducing friction. Friction is good. It doesn't feel cool to fly through a forest knocking down everything in sight. You may as well be driving in an open field.
I don't like all the trees breaking like hollow twigs
John easily makes the best Digital foundry videos.
