Subnautica 1 is in my top 5 favorite games. I still remember where I was the first time I created the rocket to escape the planet. Hopefully this one lives up to the OG. So far it seems it will.

The graphics are actually legit kinda perfect... They have nailed the "same but better" look. The new detail and much more realistic graphics are incredible, but it still looks like Subnautica. Literally kinda perfect... Really hope they are able to truly make this an upgrade to the original. Though from the new more detailed and controllable building and the idea of all the secrets and going deeper and deeper with these new more realistic and detailed graphics is terrifying as well as incredibly exciting! Hoping for the best here!!!

1:18 "Which makes the fact that so many games that use Unreal Engine 5 and are unoptimized into a developer problem" All I can hear is Ark Survival Ascended needs to fix their game.

1:30 The "problem" is unreal engine makes developing easier. Lots of devs with less experience, or simply lazy cutting corners over relying on it. Definitely not a problem of the engine, but a side effect of how accessible it is.

About the performance topic, the underwater setting makes it much more easier to hide the far away details when compared to other types of games. Because of the nature of the game's setting, you are most of the time focused on the stuff that is very close to you. This is one of those types of games I would consider easier to optimise.
