"You're lucky you get to work in football at all so take your shite salary and cough up if you want to see a game" is the attitude of most British clubs tbf - players get paid a bomb but the staff that makes it a club and not just 25 blokes in a field get bugger all.

To be fair to Arsenal, I think their logic was probably less “we don’t care about staff” and more “we have a very limited ticket allocation and millions of fans who’ve waited years for this.” Giving staff a free ticket is still a decent gesture, but covering travel for everyone opens up a whole different issue: who qualifies, full-time staff only, matchday staff, contractors, future finals, domestic finals, etc. Once you set that precedent, it becomes hard to walk back. Also, with final travel prices going crazy, the club may have decided to prioritise supporter access over funding a full staff travel operation. It’s not the warmest decision emotionally, but from an operations and governance point of view, I can see the argument.

Well said. The owners have to reverse and route out this cheapness, root and branch. Talk about an own goal! I'm an Arsenal fan, but I'm a bit less of one than I was before I heard about this. spending money on their merchandise now seems like not such a good idea… I bet they lose the "savings" from this stupid practice on that front alone.
