That’s smart. For the torch gas production in that chamber with the screw lid, they are using an alkaline solution, likely lye, and putting what appears to be a block of zinc or aluminum inside before sealing it. The reaction produces hydrogen gas which they are likely mixing with oxygen gas from that tank for the torch
