I don’t subscribe to that kind of content—not because of my people, but because of the history behind it. When you trace it back to minstrel shows and the way Black people have been cast into certain stereotypes, you start to see a pattern. It goes both ways too—how we judge each other, whether someone is seen as “too ratchet” or “too proper.” That didn’t come out of nowhere. It’s the result of years of conditioning and repeated imagery. When you really look at that roadmap, it’s hard not to question—or even reject—the kind of programming platforms like Zeus continue to push.
