This was a great discussion. For a long time, I never understood why Otto Addo consistently overlooked Majeed Ashimeru while continuing to call up midfielders with very similar, largely non-progressive profiles. In my view, Ashimeru offers a much-needed ability to carry the ball forward and break lines from midfield. With the abundance of attacking talent available to the Ghana national team, I also believe there is no longer a place for André Ayew in the final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Looking ahead to the friendlies against Mexico, the players I believe have realistic chances of earning places in the final World Cup squad are Majeed Ashimeru, Augustine Boakye, Nathaniel Adjei, and Prince Amoako Jr. In my opinion, they should be given opportunities ahead of players from the past and who have featured regularly under Otto Addo, such as Christopher Bonsu Baah, André Ayew, Jonas Adjetey, Iñaki Williams, and Elisha Owusu.

Coach Nimley may be right but how he’s too firm on Ati Ziggi over the years makes it sound like he’s been scorned. I could be wrong but for a player you unearthed and gave him his breakthrough this isn’t how to address his weaknesses. He can debate on the goals Ati concedes, which is something we can’t ignore but to outright say Asare is the better goalkeeper is very unfortunate especially coming from him. Asare will never survive in the Swiss league regardless of how he controls his back line.
Why are we making excuses for players but were quick to challenge Otto Addo. If our players are really that good they should beat this Mexican Liga Mex team.

Honestly, I agree with coach. Jordan sits on the bench. Currently his style of play is for last 15 or 10 mins in a game Ghana is leading to delay time. It’s not about the one or two goals he scores its about the team. How good is your 1 goal if your style of play does not help the team defensively and offensively (killing counter attacks).

Kurt Okraku selected that goal keeper from ERROR FC. And then Carlos probably told the boy to stay home. My dream one day is for him and Otto Addo to be arrested. It’s one thing to bring us poor results but they have actually set us back. The new coach won’t even get proper time with our players. Otto should have been fired as soon as he landed in Ghana, after Afcon qualifiers.

I'm a fan of neither Zigi or Asare. Their current form qualifies them as backup keepers at best in a proper blackstars squad. But let the facts be clear that Zigi has never been in post in any blackstars match against Comoros. Don't misinform!
I was at the stadium in Germany . Benjamin was good and if it was Ati he will had taken more goals! Benjamin is better than Ati! We should be honest for once!

For the first time I'll disagree with coach. For any African country, an opportunity to play a game with the full national team of Mexico, one of the best football countries in the world, CANNOT be useless. Even if the Ghana 1st IX cannot make it, those group of players going will gain immense experience from the game. And, if the Ghana FA also earns money in the process, why should they reject it? Finally, the game offers an important opportunity to assess Ashimeru and Felix Afena-Gyan, as well as the other chap Fent mentioned, as realistic candidates for the World Cup.
I still can’t believe this debate between Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Benjamin Asare is still a serious discussion. Benjamin Asare is clearly the better goalkeeper. I think Ati-Zigi is the worst goalkeeper out of Asare and Anang. I just don’t think Ati-Zigi is good enough. He concedes goals like we as humans drink water. Lol Ati-Zigi is the same goalkeeper who conceded seven goals in three games at the last World Cup. He also let in three goals against the Central African Republic at Baba Yara Stadium, which was shocking considering our strong history playing in Kumasi. Benjamin Asare kept a clean sheet against that same team with the same defenders in front of him, which says a lot. Even in the AFCON qualifiers, Ati-Zigi’s performances were very underwhelming. At one point, he was benched by Jojo Wollacott, who was playing in the lower tiers of English football at the time. Then at the next AFCON, he was benched in favor for Richard Ofori who wasn’t even in form at his club in South Africa at that time. Now he’s been benched again, this time by local-based goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare. That raises serious questions.
