A shared dream. A common belief. Chasing Sub 2 is the journey towards realizing the impossible: running the world's first sub-two-hour marathon. A decade-long pursuit sparked by Haile Gebrselassie at the 2008 Berlin Marathon, which became a reality at the 2026 London Marathon. Kenyan marathoner, Sabastian Sawe, has won all four of the marathons he has competed in. Adding to his extensive list of accolades is the historic 1:59:30 finish, powered by the latest Adizero innovation: the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3. The fastest and lightest Adizero super-shoe ever made, weighing less than 100 grams. Humanity just got faster. I think Yomif Kejelcha also deserves a video. Not only did he run a sub-2 in his debut marathon, but his presence pushing from behind SAWE helped both of them achieve sub-2. Kejelcha deserves a stage too.🙂
Adidas marketing having the best week ever.
Now do Kejelcha
He Came, He Sawe, He Conquered!
Each 1km run in 2:50 min. Now imagine doing that a little more than 42 times. My fastest 1km was 3:30 and I was basically dying at the end. Yeah these people are superhuman.
I have always wanted our Kenyan athletes to be interviewed in their local language that they understood better, Kudos Sawe for doing the interview in Kalenjin Language.
Sebastian has really made us as Kenyans proud
Kejelcha please. He deserves a spotlight too!!
Love it that he speaks in Kalenjin. Wacha watafute translators.
Forget the complicated name. The shoe needs to be rebranded as The Adidas Sawe. He deserves the name... and the passive income that comes with it .
A whole new era 🙌💙
I must say congratulations to Sawe, his coach, and Adidas. As a Kenyan, I am honestly super proud that these guys are invested in the lives of these runners. The coach has been here, if I got it right, for 20 years; basically, he is now Kenyan! Many people don't realize the discipline and commitment to running. Thank you to their families for giving us the Nation the best of them. Am thinking, will he go after his own WR and break it again? At this point, I believe it's possible. Hongera team Kenya! Hongera Sawe, Coach and Adidas! You have done us super super proud.
We need a longer version of this
A truly incredible achievement. The Kejelcha angle of this story really fascinates me. It does not appear that Adidas was developing the new shoe in conjunction with him as much as Sawe and weren't really intending for him to be set up to accomplish this, yet he went out and ran a sub-2 in the only marathon he has ever raced and only finished 10 seconds behind Sawe. As many have said here, I don't think this happens if these two men are not there together pushing each other the entire distance.
There's no stopping a determined Kenyan. Unbelievable run. Glad to have been alive to see this record being broken.
“It can only be achieved once”… well, apparently twice in the same race 😛
Adidas, thank you for supporting these extraordinary athletes who have made history!
Goosebumps all over again!!! 👏🏽👏🏽 seeing Sabastian and Yomif fly by at mile 21 at the London Marathon was a surreal experience. Such an incredible performance by the both of them!!!
Adidas, for me, now stands for All Day I Dream About Sebastian ❤️ love you guys.. hope to own an Adidas shoe one day.
he was so humble he wasn't even planning to break sub 2!
