4200RPM laptop drives also existed. Yes, they were as terrible as you'd expect.
I can still remember getting the wd velociraptor it does 10000 rpm. It was a huge jump in load speeds.
There's no better stress test for a laptop HDD than a simple Windows update.
You now should test how long a DVD install takes of windows
at work we have dells with 13th gen intels and spinning Hard drives with 1080x768 monitors.
still using a 7200rpm 2.5inch HDD on my old laptop, still runs win 10 like a champ xD
all my laptop hdd's were spinning at 5400 rpm, dont know where you got 5600 rpm
1:45 the captions show the rtx 5050 as 50/50, likely a reference to the chances of this card running any modern game
SUFFERING DOES DAWID STUFF
2:14 I saw that Lexar price and got excited, then saw the date. Inflation calculator says 110 then is only 120 now, and Amazon has that 2tb unit for 380. That's some wild price shifting!
I upgraded my wife’s old laptop 5600rpm drive to an SSD and it completely transformed the laptop. It’s crazy how much of a bottleneck storage had back in the day.
lol quite funny you post this, i am just about to put an old laptop HDD in my main machine for extra storage, would never even dream of making it a boot drive XD
10:15 Laptop HDDs with 7200rpm not only do exist, but are also popular.
Youngster don't know the life struggle that all we had back in the day was old IDE 5400 and 7200 RPM spinner drives lol along with dial up speeds trying download and browse
You said that 2.5" HDD was 5600rpm but it's 5400
Antivirus scan would have been a nice test to do as well. I recall it was a nightmare on HDD
Oh my god, I actually swapped an SSD from an old laptop to put it in my PS3 and put the PS3's HDD into the laptop, in case of. Now I need to rip a few DVDs, and that old laptop is the only computer I own that still has a DVD player. I am using a Windows 11 laptop with a 5400rpm 20 year old HDD in it, everything takes ages, literally. I can click on anything, go make myself a cup of coffee, come back, and the action isn't done yet, even a simple right-click on the desktop
Dawid discovered that HDDs are slower than SSDs.
This isn't just suffering, this is Suffering Pro Max™️
