We are happy with ‘slow’ content. For most people this would still be a busy day.
RE giving the boys their own bed in the garden: my father gave each of the 4 oldest kids (I was the youngest) in the 1980s a small plot to be responsible for. We each got a tomato plant, peas and green beans plant. That experience remains a core memory of my childhood. Still, now at 52, I still feel great pride of that first garden experience that I was responsible for! Still to this day, I enjoy gardening becauseof that experience. When the time is right, I would encourage you to let them have a few plants to tend to, their own small plot to be responsible for. You are already doing an amazing job getting them involved and part of the process - they love it! What beautiful memories you are creating for them!

I would like to share a thought with you Newbys along the lines of work smarter not harder. Instead of cutting the weeds, plant the paths between your box food gardens with herbs. Thyme can be walked on. Spearmint is a crazy grower and provides fresh smells and so does rosemary. they will eventually take over the paths and keep the weeds out and the scents will make your clothes smell great. Rosemary also has oils that discourage pests and attract pollenators. As does spearmint. You can package and sell extra or create one of a kind gift baskets. Many herbs will do quite well in your garden and when done right serve many benefits. Please consider it but as always, you be you. Crack on Newbys. Keep up the good work.

One of many reasons I know I’m not meant to be a parent in this lifetime is that I don’t think I’d have the patience for little ones “helping” while I’m trying to get something done quickly and correctly. I’m sure you have your moments, but I’m always so impressed with how both of you let them help, which I know is so important to how they learn. They’re lucky little boys and I’m sure they will look upon their childhoods fondly one day.
