As a Blues fan, I saw Berube in Toronto as something that was either going to work incredibly well or not at all. His style seems to be the kind that gets guys ready to run through a wall for him, but if the team doesn't connect with him like that for whatever reason, then it's just never going to work.
Leafs had a coach who insisted that the players worked hard, were accountable and cared - sorry coach, not our style
Berubé's career record as a head coach: 365-252-90. Nine full seasons as a head coach, made the playoffs 6 times and won 1 Stanley Cup. At some point you have to wonder if there is any coach who can succeed with this roster. You said that he sucked the life out of the team. Would it be more accurate to say that the team sucked the life out of him?

To be honest with you Steve, Austin Matthews, Nylander, previously Mitch Vegas Marner wanted to just collect their 13 million per season. They do not want to be held accountable for their failures, so they need somebody to blame.
A corporation will operate like a corporation. This team will never change.
He did not deserve this. He wasn’t working well with the team and he made mistakes but I still blame the players more. Their just wasn’t any soul on this team. Craig was dealing with baggage from all the fools that came before him and despite that he forced a game 7 against my Panthers.
Nylander is gonna throw a party after this
