Are 32" wheels the next big thing or another solution to a problem that doesn't exist? Let's take a deep dive into this new "standard" and talk about whether they have a practical use or are just the latest round of marketing and hype. My Book! A full 6 inches, wish I had that.
Time for seth to make a SixtySixer - 36" at the front, 26" at the back. Party time
Sales are slow due to the industry expecting everyone to get a new bike every year or two.... most people do not do that.
He nailed the real reason for this when he mentioned "sales are slow"...it's always about pushing new trends and engineering to boost sales
Can't wait to see the return of penny farthings!
IMO , Sales are slow because bikes are crazy expensive these days .
I have 29" wheels, I think they're more than big enough for what I do.
The vertically challenged of the world appreciate you, Seth.
"If all my much taller friends get faster, more capable 32" bikes, then great! I won't have to wait up for them anymore." That line goes HARD
32” for bigger bikes/riders, 27.5 for smaller ones, 29 or mixed for medium/large. Proportion matters.
I'm still riding 26" and now we have 32"
"We can't just keep..." "Let me stop you right there" -bike industry
I'm 5'6" I agree the industry straight up abandoned 27.5. 29er is faster but 27.5 maneuvers easier for us vertically challenged.
Cant wait for 30.5” wheels as a compromise like 26 vs 29er that gave birth to the 27.5”
I'm 5'7", making me a frame size up from you, but all of this resonated with me. I also avoided 29er for all the same reasons. I bought my Ranger during the big December 2024 blowout sale, and immediately fell in love with it. I also find it more nimble and fun to ride than my big 27.5 bike (a YT Jeffsy). Lots of riders think I missed the boat on 29er too long, but for those of us shorter riders I feel the trepidation was warranted. I credit women flocking to the sport making things better for those of us shorter men. That's a big part of why smaller frame sizes are so good now.
Im 6'4. Been riding MTBs since 1999. 29er did more to improve the sport for me than anything else. Id be happy to have a 32.
I don't even like 29's. 32 is just crazy to me!!
32" is like AI in the tech world; there's lots of investment, but no one really knows the value
What's ironic for me is, wheels are getting bigger but trails are getting flatter.
1:48 Himalayan SEA salt, sounds legit :D
