YES!! More of this LS rebuild please. Been patiently waiting for a complete L94 or similar rebuild.
Some people think the cheapest 15W-40 every 6 years is "enough". 🤭😬
VALVOLINE Restore and Protect!
Love the forensics / diagnosses
Dave, oil is oil and I follow the manufacturers recommend 10,000 mile oil changes, they build them. Are you telling me you know more than the manufacturer? That is what some people will say. They don't realize the manufacturer only cares that it lives through warranty, not after. Use a good quality oil, low micron filter and change your oil every 3k to 5k miles. Oil quality matters, some handle heat better than others and more.
I wouldn't give this guy a warranty ..... He doesn't change his oil
This is why I'm delivering my L76 to Dave's next month.
Yes, love the informative LS late model engine diagnosis and repair videos. Thanks a bunch
Change the oil every 3000 miles.
love how you show the detail of how bad/no oil changes actually causes problems
Dave is a mechanical genius! Bar none. He could teach engineers
In the days of stamped steel valve covers, and before synthetic oil, crud on the inside of the valve cover after a few years was common and harmless.
DAVE!!!!!!!! YOU HONESTLY ARE ONE OF THE MOST HONEST AND KNOWLEDGEABLE MECHANICS IN EXISTENCE...,, LOVE YOU DAVE!!!!!! PLEASE, KEEP UP YOUR GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
I noticed that the 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine in my Holden VY SS Commodore which I bought at 182,000 kilometres (113,000 miles) looked like that when I removed the valve rocker covers probably about 15 years ago when I first replaced the seals. I started changing the oil & filter once every 5000 kilometres (3000 miles) with 10W30 grade semi synthetic engine oil but now I have changed over to 10W40 grade full synthetic engine oil which I change once every 10000 kilometres (6000 miles). The engine has now done 412,000 kilometres (256,000 miles) & it burns 1-2 litres or quarts of oil during the 10000 kilometre service interval & the engine looks a lot cleaner inside now !
Always learn so much from watching your vudeos, keep it up. 👍🏻
Interesting... On my 2015 GMC with a 5.3 before I turned off AFM it used to burn about a quart of oil in 3000 miles, since I used a programmer to turn that off it uses none now. Is that just caused by the pistons cooling and allowing the oil ring to let oil get by??
6.0 - 07 Silverado oil change every 3-4 thousand miles at 80 thousand miles pulled oil pan and valve cover to repair oil leaks. Had sludge in pan and driver's side valve cover. Did digging and found out the small head bolts next to intake no longer torqued to spack allowing that damn long life antifreeze seaping in to engine. It does not make oil cloudy it turns to sludge when mixed with oil. Retorqued bolt's to seal head . Not finding that on oil changes anymore.
Thanks dave!!
Dave could of been a surgeon
Absolutely awesome
