They Broke the Golden Rule of Cave Diving — One Paid With His Life

Nature and animals

They Broke the Golden Rule of Cave Diving — One Paid With His Life In 1974, two experienced cave divers broke the golden rule — and only one came out alive. This is the true story of Martin Farr and Roger Solari's fatal dive into Agen Allwedd, one of the deepest and most dangerous cave systems in South Wales. Martin and Roger had successfully navigated three treacherous sumps deep underground. But when they reached the mysterious fourth sump, their curiosity pushed them past the point of no return. Roger Solari never resurfaced. His body wouldn't be found for 12 years. This is what happens when the rule of thirds is broken underground. Let's take a moment to be thankful and remember that nobody HAS to go in a cave. Smart people can stay warm and dry and comfortable.

I went to Bermuda once and went into the crystal cave there. It was beautiful but when they shut the lights off it is so dark that you cannot see a thing. It was so eerie and frightening even though you were feet away from the entrance. You couldn't pay me enough to go into any other cave. Plus add on diving through sumps. Makes me anxious to even watch these! No thanks! I'll watch from home!

They ALL break the "golden rule." No one EVER brings rope with them. When did schools stop teaching the Greek Myths? How do you think Theseus got out of the Labyrinth?

That's why people always kill bats quietly without telling anybody about it. They are flying rats that carry rabies. And like rats they should be exterminated with extreme prejudice. Rabies is 100% lethal. The only way to eradicate it is to eradicate it's natural reservoirs which means exterminating the bats. Happily bats are quite sensitive to a number of chemical agents. They're not terribly hard to get rid of.

I heard this story many times and you can only push the boundaries so much until you are a done deal.!☠️. There is nothing spectacular about seeing sumps anyway It is like being in a dirty pool from an abandoned house!
