I don't understand why they went ahead. They even have a ceremony asking the mountains permission to climb it. This year clearly the mountain said NO and still they go ahead. Nothing good will come of this.
I love mountain climbing which can feel very zen, rewarding and spiritual. I don't think there's that experience to be had at Everest. It looks like a nightmare with that many people.
They should have called the season off after they found this huge serac blocking the route. The moutain clearly says "no".
Zero summits and it’s already like this. Are we looking at the worst Everest season on record?
Maybe the mountain is shaking itself! And the permits are money even if they all fail
The Ice Fall Doctors, said, "NO", the Rope Fixers said, "NO", the Mountain said, "NO", yet..........the industry/expeditioners said, "screw you, if you wont do it, we WILL"! So.....up they went fixing their OWN ropes and ladders and making their OWN ROUTES up. And yet...........the mountain is STILL saying, "NO"!
You say 'as safely as possible ' whilst showing a five ladder bridge across a crevasse. Laughing, but it's not funny at all.
In the whole blood oxygen thing, I am not mountaineer, but I was my mums carer while she was dying of lung cancer. The body can manage for a limited time on lower SpO2 levels but cant maintain it long term. People with COPD should have levels between 88 and 92. My mums was often around 50-70 especially if she had moved.
Wow, this was really interesting
I think Everest is finally saying, “Enough is enough! Get off of me and leave me alone! I’m sick of your trash!”
I donot admire the oeople trying to climb Everest these days. If it weren’t for the poor Sherpas doing all the work, I’d say 99% of the people trying to climb wouldn’t have the skill to even make it out of Base Camp. Just a bunch of rich, entitled parvenues playing at mountaineering.
The mountain is constantly telling people to stay away. I’m listening.
