Just tried it and I didn’t have to add more fuel! They should add this to the labels 💪🏾

Great tips in the video and comment thread! For a starter, Ive used pine cones for years. Trees in my neighborhood always dropping cones, I collect what I need, put one upside down in my chimney then add charcoal, light from bottom and away we go. Always lights. Pine cones.

Not here to hate on your video. I’m 53, been grilling for years! I’ve used the methods you’ve suggested for years; they work. I just want to make an additional method suggestion that has never failed through trial and error and I’ve stuck with this one the longest! Makes my grill burn even and reliable like an oven! NO hot spots!! It takes a little patience tho. No matter the grill shape, pyramid stack the charcoal. If you’re a griller, you know how much charcoal you need for what you’re gonna cook! You don’t have to “top out” the pyramid! One layer, two layers, three, whatever! I generally use fuel because this method burns off quickly and you won’t taste it. Charcoal burns evenly, no hot spots, temp stays equally reliable like an oven, charcoal stack never moves, crumbles or shifts. Takes a little time to stack, but worth it from beginning to end!!!

I’ve speculated this for YEARS. I just never wanted to experiment only to find out it didn’t work, and have to start over. Thanks

Charcoal has binders (glue) To keep it together the reason you wait for it to ash over is to make sure the binders have burned up. I use natural wood charcoal only in my BBQ chimney

Thank you! This just happened to me, my coals burned out and I had to finish in the oven lol

I've definitely been waiting for it to ash over (not sure where I heard that) but yes, I found myself struggling to maintain temp.

GOOD TIP FOR ALL US GRILLERS

Great. I also like to shake the chimney by the handle occasionally to knock off ash. It helps to heat up faster. Then I do a last shake before dumping, it gets the ash off and the coals are a bright orange and hot!

I too pour out my coals once I see a flame shoot up and the smoke stops. In fact I don't even use fire starters. I just crumpled a couple of paper towels place my chimney on top, and light the towels. No accelerator, and it works. the coals started even though the towels burned out rather quick. I know I was amazed my self.

Right to the point great tip personally i use the charcoal bag itself theres three layers just make sure you use enough to fill the bottom you can put a little bacon grease on it as well
