- 911 went wide due to weight transfer under braking unloading rear tyres and then the rear-biased balanced completely overtaking traction in the wet - E30 came in hard, started a drift and then tried to transition but it was too fast and too late, weight transfer just before it hit the low traction patch meant its tail was too fast to reel in - Civic demoed an over-enthusiastic entry, understeer and hydroplaning - first Escort entered on the correct line and speed, you can see how much wider the entry is, the driver is braking and turning in early, slight drift as the rear unloads under weight transfer, carries the speed through, past the apex and gets on the power early, reloading the rear gradually to push out of the corner - second Escort drifted out of the previous exit at an aggressive angle, quickly straightened out but was on the wrong line to do what the first one did so the driver sticks to the grippier inside bit, trail brakes until the apex, straightens out and gets on the power ASAP (fun fact: 2nd Escort is a Mk1) - third Escort, very similar, slightly wider and more aggressive exit, still maximises use of interior line and positive camber from the drain - Kadett came in slower, looked like a sloppy exit, bled off lots of speed, corrected and tidied up as it went through You're looking more at a difference in experience with the conditions and or stage than a huge difference in the cars. Having driven a Mk2 in hill climb/descent events I will say that it is a much more neutral driver and, after race prep, you can set up for anywhere between 53:47 and 45:55 weight distribution, put an LSD in there and it's smiles for miles.

I'm offended to see that Civic to under-steer like that...who the hell brakes that late into the corner with that kind of road condition?

None of this is due to suspension, its all driver skill

Most of the non Escorts arrived at the corner too quickly and already out of control. Driver error.

I had an Escort for a long time. It had an aluminum head, so I ended up needing a new gasket. Materials hadn't quite caught up yet, but the new one solved it. If I'd had a five speed I could've raced it, but I inherited a four speed from my brother. Nice car though, handled great. I slid into a ditch in a snow storm and flipped it sideways. I kept my coffee right side up, and when a milk truck driver saw me tipping the car back on four wheels, he stopped and gave me a ride.
