Not sure about number 1. I would say the biggest mistake newbees make on and off-road, is underestimating how hard they can brake with the front brake.

start with ABS "ON" so you learn how hard you can brake before the ABS engages.

The front brake slows faster then the rear I use the shit outta of been riding motor cross and super bikes for 20 years

I typically only use the front brake. The key is keeping it under control and not losing your control

Whenever off road and wanted to stand up, make sure you have the offroad package as those come equiped with longer feet braces (no need to take off the normal one as it is a separate one that's when you're able to stand up properly

Front rear brake bias is 70/30. Back brake just keeps you straight.
