But if the vehicle is driven with the driver door open, there won't be a change of mode from closed to open to trigger the parking brake. Also, if the vehicle was stopped in Drive or Reverse, and is stationary being held by Automatic Vehicle Hold, and the driver unbuckles the seatbelt, the parking brake will automatically apply. Notice at 1:38, the seatbelt is buckled across the seatback. The vehicles thinks someone is sitting buckled in the driver seat. As soon as the package touched the accelerator pedal, the vehicle interpreted that as a buckled driver wanting the vehicle to quit being stationary. When the vehicle is braked to a stop, Automatic Vehicle Hold (AVH) prevents the vehicle from moving during the transition from brake pedal release to accelerator pedal apply. The brakes release when the accelerator pedal is applied. The brakes may also release under other conditions. Do not rely on AVH to hold the vehicle. If the accelerator pedal is not applied within a few minutes, the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) will apply. The EPB will also apply if the driver door is opened or if the driver seat belt is unfastened while AVH is holding the vehicle. AVH is always enabled. When AVH is actively holding the vehicle, the AVH indicator light displays green. When AVH is not actively holding the vehicle, the AVH indicator light displays white.

They would get side by side on the interstate and continue that way for five to ten miles at 50 MPH, not letting anyone pass. After about a month of them doing that and endless complaints to UPS, the highway patrol and the county police six of the drivers got busted one morning for obstructing traffic, they stayed single file in the slow lane from then on.
