Charlie DID a bad thing... Emma literally did NOT. The only person she did hurt was herself by damaging her hearing.
Now that Charlie has something that genuinely is the worst thing you’ve ever done I think they are on even field ruining the wedding day now they can geniuenly move past it because it was clear let’s say the wedding went perfect their actual lives would be miserable Charlie afriad of Emma Charlie wanting to psychoanalyze her now did he embarrassed himself in front of everyone he won’t have this thing hanging over them in the relationship creating a toxic imbalance because genuinely up until that point charlie is kind of perfect even the cyber bullying thing I feel is total bs before him spiraling with imagining Emma’s past and if she still could be that person deep inside. I don’t think they end the relationship long paragraph but here me out earlier in the movie when this happens Emma tries the whole let’s play along and introduce ourselves to each other again Charlie is not willing to buy into it to fix the relationship but now he sees and felt that alone and embarrassing place that Emma felt he’s truly willing to let go and buy into the imagination to start fresh again because throw away everything she’s not that person that people think and he’s not that person that people might think and they really love each other and all they have is other alone with the worst thing you’ve ever done imperfections. Side note Rachel is worst character and the director is subtly telling us that so watch out for those people in your life. Perception vs reality what she did to that kid most likely messed him up for life.
People's ability to overlook her PLANNING school bang bang is actually wild. She didn't just fantasize. She planned. She could have ended up in prison for years. People are rightfully mad about a kid locked in a trailer, but don't seem to grasp this character was about to take a whole bunch of kids lives. Jesus Christ. "Like it's ok because she only planned it in meticulous detail, and practiced using the weapon, but it's ok because she's like a really good person now who hates guns." Get a grip. No, I could not get over this or accept it. And I wouldn't want this person in my life. If you're off your rocker enough to plan something like that, you're dangerous.
Emma had dark thoughts that never came to action. Everyone else had their own dark thoughts about her dark thoughts which they turned into darker actions.
Rachel is the dangerous one, she's the antagonist in The Drama. She confessed to locking a younger "slow" neighbor kid in a closet & abandoning him in the past when she was a teen. She admitted she never faced consequences. Rachel is the one who made the most damage by gossiping & plotting to sabotage Emma's & Charlie's wedding bc she took great offense to Emma's fantasy teenage phase, a phase that she overcame & gained empathy from. She showed her true, nasty, bully tendencies during her behavior & her speech at their wedding.
It feels incomplete. Things were going fine up until she revealed her secret, but everything that followed didn’t really make sense.
My interpretation is that Charlie was the only one who hadn't done a bad thing (or wasn't willing to admit he did one in the dinner scene - sorry, I didn't buy the "cyberbullying" BS). So eventually he ends up doing a stream of bad things by the end of the movie and Emma decides to start over as her way of saying "now we're even".
Its the worst movie of the year
Her being a black woman adds some great layers..
Imo the Woman locking in the kid in an abondend trailer was by far the worst person in the movie
Too many people focused on the “pew pew” and not the big picture, second chance. Yes, it’s a terrible thought. But what’s the WORST thing YOU did? And would you share it and hope people are okay with it? Think about it.
I think Charlie ruined it.
I felt like after zendaya told her secret she just dissappears the rest of the movie every scene after was just her looking down at the ground feeling sad, while Robert did all the acting. 6/10
I saw it as their love for each other overcame the crap. I'm older and I've seen couples weather much worse than what this movie show. Not saying it right or wrong, just what I've observed over the decades.
To me shes dead at the end, Charlie is imagining the scene. There is a woman with orange coat but its not her.
Whoa….Emmas secret was way bigger than what Charlie did. She had to forgive him. Now he didn’t handle her secret well at ALL but his mess wasn’t bigger than hers. For me hers was lying to everyone around her for years. Keeping up a lie with so many people isn’t easy or healthy. Telling me she never got help/therapy for these feelings. So they are unresolved. I’d support and require the person in my life get help asap Because while she’s come along way on her own. She can’t be healed.
I thought she said, well it WAS nice to meet you, not IS nice to meet you. Meaning that was the end of them, although I may have misheard
But she didn't do "the thing". She planned it, but she didn't go through with it. It doesn't matter why. She grew past it and looks back on it with regret. I found the movie entertaining but also annoying. Drama, indeed.
Wuthering height is the most controversial movie of the year
Why would anyone find this movie “entertaining”?
