I hope Charles Melton wins some awards for this. He really stood out.
Thank you for this analysis. It actually cleared up a few questions I had, especially about Austin abandoning Eunice. IMHO, I thought both seasons of Beef were spectacular, but in completely different ways. Both seasons stood on their own merit. High praise all around.
bro feel so bad for josh, he didnt deserve all that...man
I laughed when Eunice escaped on foot and did some ninja shit jumped on the back of a truck 🤣
10/10 season great breakdown I missed many of the points you made
My favorite tidbit is how good Austin had gotten at bullshiting and pretending that he was able to unknowingly trick Dr Kim into thinking he's fluent in Korean.
Incredible breakdown. The most heartbreaking part is seeing how the system erodes our humanity, turning ‘helpful bees’ into ‘selfish ants.’ That Wheel of Life reference explains the cycle so well—we all become what we hate. We loved the gritty, beautiful tension of this season so much that we composed some music to capture that exact energy. If you're still stuck in the 'Beef' rabbit hole like we are, you’ll get it.
Something I haven't seen mentioned yet is how maybe Lindsay and her new husband at the end may be paralleled to the Chairwoman and her first husband and Dr. Kim. Lindsay seemed to truly love Josh despite their dysfunctional marriage, but didn't enjoy life with him. Perhaps with her second husband, she has someone who she can enjoy life with more, but she doesn't love him like she loved Josh.
Was really enjoying it.. but wtf were those last 2 episodes?? Just incredibly strange
I liked this season more than the first! My only issue was the last episode. It felt sooo rushed and didn’t feel like a soft landing of a story.
Thanks for the explaination, i really had a lot of insights on the whole season that i just finished watching. A very powerful philosophical change of perspective for me
No comment on Eunice jumping the fence and hoping onto the back of a truck like she’s a spy all along? They felt very out of school for the character Eunice.
Austin didn't really "choose" Ashley in the end. He left Ashley for Eunice because he thought she felt the same way, but after he tells Eunice about his decision, she is not happy, and is hesitant and dismissive of his feelings. He tells her he loves her twice, and after the second time, she reluctantly says it back, then immediately hangs up the phone. He is elated at first because yes, she said it, and they're going to run off into the sunset together in his mind. Only after a moment does he really beginning to analyze her tone and their interactions. His smile slowly fades because he realizes that she doesn't feel and never felt the same way, so he returns to a mediocre life with Ashley as his second choice with Ashley walking all over him for their entire relationship and being constantly emasculated. Ashley is afraid to be alone, but so is he. That's why he only dumped her when he thought he had Eunice to fall back on. They are in a relationship of convenience and familiarity, but as the saying goes "familiarity breeds contempt" and they are doomed to have the same level of resentment for each other that Josh and Lindsay have.
Ahsley really looked like Love from you when they were at korea and at the last episode 😂
I really cannot believe how crazy this season was and how it did not have a happy ending
Whoever picked the songs for the endings of the first few episodes absolutely killed it.. because they are all ofcourse banging chill house songs from the mid 2010s but they are married into the way the episodes faded out so well!
Most likely R.I.P. Eunice and big props to Josh. Two characters that I expected to hate more and more but ended up only liking them in the end. Season 1 was better but this season was still good and such a damn ride
Austin’s character could be seen in two ways. One is the version described in the video, and the other is that he chose to stay with Ashley, a person he is not in love with, and his future child for their happiness, at the cost of his own. In that sense, he may have made a selfishless decision as well 🤔
Burberry is the one that escaped the samsara.
Came for an explanation of the ending stayed for a summary of the whole season
