Slightly altered? More like plundered. Just read the novel. It’s brilliant.
Going into this blind , the film is not bad . I think Margot and Jacob have amazing chemistry on screen . It reminds me of Romeo & Juliet in many ways . This definitely highlights the narcissistic & emotional abuse they put each other through . Obsession is not anything to admire in the slightest , this kind of “love” if you call it that , is tragic and devastating . I’m stoked to see these 2 on screen together , they did a good job 👏🏻
No Catherine's ghost haunting Heathcliff and no 2nd generation to take revenge on... what a disappointment of a movie 🥲
the ending was so sad, i have never cried so bad in a theatre. I was almost hysterical lol

Wuthering NOT Withering!!!! Did you even read the novel? It is NOT a love story and this, like most adaptations, only includes the story up until Kathy dies at 18! They are never "in love" because they are children then young teens until she plans to marry the new rich guy in the area, instead of him at 15. He leaves and comes back and they are STILL very young which partly explains why they act like teenagers. Both are AWFUL people! Most everyone in that novel are awful people! It is about MANY things but LOVE is NOT one of them. Obsession and toxic behavior are NOT love! Idgaf what the trailer told you or what other adaptations try and tell you. Heathcliff is also NOT a white man (he is a "gypsy" so of the Romani people) so the racism that helps to twist him and creates their circumstances is completely missing!!! It is a big part of why he is awful even with her, ruins and abuses people before she is dead and why he becomes the monster he does after she dies. He is obsessed and wants revenge on both families and enacts that revenge on the next generation which are totally left out of this and most adaptations. When he is done trying to ruin their lives the miserable POS kills himself, still obsessed with Kathy his adoptive sister basically, though he is treated as a SLAVE worse than the servants by most everyone including the WHITE servants except Kathy sometimes and her father. It is about racism, classism, abuse, toxic relationships, obsession, revenge, anger, generational trauma......... not LOVE!!!! Maybe you can like it if you haven't read the novel and have no clue what the actual novel is about but Wuthering Heights, THIS is NOT! This couple is AWFUL and the entire point is that and why they are awful and that this is not love. Emily Bronte is rolling in her grave more than usual with this epic nice looking trash that doesn't tell the story she wrote.
This was absolutely incredible. The best movie I have seen in years so moving, funny, eccentric, garish, and sad. I came out of the cinema absolutely balling my eyes out. This is going to stay with me this one. I don't understand the backlash, it's the pompous peeps who can't see past their small mindedness to understand what an adaptation is, and to move with the times. It was so well done.

If you accept this as a 14-year-old girl's rendition/ fanfiction of Wuthering Heights, you will feel much better.
This movie feels like a 2.5hrs music video. I love the score, music and aesthetic more than the story itself. I don’t understand Nelly’s character. What’s her motivation and why must she kept manipulating them all. Isabella is probably my favourite character 😆
Im so over hearing people say "It isnt true to the book." It doesn't have to be its Emerald Fennell's reimagined version. Im also over hearing people say Heathcliff was black. No, he was of gypsy heritage. Yes they started out as people from India, but the more they travelled across Europe the more white they became. By that time period most were white (especially in the British Isles), some a slight Spanish or Italian look, but still white.
Sorry but it did not change Wuthering Heights 'slightly'. It was an insult it was to the novel Wuthering Heights. There was no real ending because the person who made it did not want to bother to do the rest of the story. Ignoring that, it was still a shallow, pointless movie.

I love Wuthering Heights. I don't understand why people don't like it. It's not perfect, but it's brilliant and heartbreaking, and Jacob Elordi's and Margot Robbie's performances are brilliant.
Heathcliff treated Isabella as he felt Catherine had treated him. And Catherine leaving Edgar, pregnant, just wasn’t done in those times. Heathcliff came back rich, money wasn’t what kept her from going to be with him.
I hope ppl don't watch this film or read the book and think that this is what love is. Ppl oft confuse intensity of feelings for quality.
