If The Boys can't kill Homelander then they'll have to freeze him like what was done to Soldier Boy. Remember when Homelander got in the cryo chamber for a minute.
Pretty sure when homelander said that there's no way Vought was smarter than her, he was actually implying he knows she's not really trying to make V1 for him. The surprised look seemed more to me like her realizing homelander might be smarter than she thought
This scene shows that Sage’s superhero intelligence is based entirely on a Machiavellian worldview where people act purely based on self-interest and base desires. Her intelligence didn’t account for the human need for friendship and relationship. Solider Boy is immortal and he’s watched all of the people he loved die. (Clara, his brother) Why would he want to spend eternity alone when he still has his son? If Sage had an even basic level of EQ, she would have realized this.
A clear message from the episode is that love cannot be calculated or predictable. This may be the key for beating homelander 😅
They seem way more interested in setting up Vought Rising than properly concluding The Boys.
Not sure if this gets seen by anyone, but I think what the "but... Soldier Boy was supposed to react differently and destroy the V1, why hasn't he?!" moment with Sage means to represent how love is such a strong and unpredictable feeling, it makes people do things even the smartest person couldn't have predicted.

at like 9:44 it goes a bit deeper than just they have no fear, with butcher him not being afraid of Homelander just means he isn't annoying him, he doesn't kill butcher because, in some sick way they are friends in Homie's head. like they have heart to hearts and he gets to show his real true self to him without holding back like he does with the seven and in any other professional environment, butcher knows who he really is and in some way that is a comfort. As for the legend its because he gets an older man to give him some fatherly wisdom/advice, which deep down Homie wants more than anything.
I didn’t read homelanders remark to sage as a compliment I read it as an accusation/threat.
I think Sage knows fully well how to replicate the V1 formula, she's just trying to delay the process so she's making all these fake ones with horrific side effects to try and scare homelander away from wanting to take it. I think her reaction to his "compliment" was her thinking "oh shit he's starting to catch on that I'm failing on purpose"
