Whats crazy i read horror stories like this but instead of chained up they start regressing the guy into a baby. It was disturbing nonetheless
I personally think it’s a beginning of a cycle. There’s tension with Tommy and the GF, she doesn’t partake in drugs/partying but he does. They (parents) tried it before with a guy similar to Tommy, to have a child of their own because there is obvious signs of non lust in their relationship, but he escaped/had to be killed by Chris (dad). They had a real son (Jonathan) during/afterward and the mom still isn’t right with what happened to the previous. Which explains the punishment behavior with Jonathan (son) and her demeanor towards him vs the dad’s demeanor. Tommy also sees true love in the scene with Chris and Kathryn and tears up (seeing what love means).Tommy than escapes and sees the behavior in his girlfriend that he had to watch on the tv of himself. So the brainwash led him to believe if it set him straight and showed him true love than it’s for the best for the girlfriend and decided to bring her in hopes of the same result. He doesn’t party or do drugs when he’s escaped yet kinda sees it from an outsiders perspective and now the tables have turned and she’s now doing his behaviors. So he goes through with what he thinks will make her see the real love/lesson. Beautiful film and how it ended. Just my take on it
