Personally, I am still in awe of the thought-provoking ending, when you finally get the context of what the witch represents in the story. A lot of people with dog shit tastes in movies in these comments. Hokum is a very well written, shot, acted and directed horror movie. You just don't see many horror movies anymore with the depth Hokum has. It's not perfect but it's definitely better than most
And fiona probably died of starvation or shock, because she had the chalk, also her body was found, when Mal was drawn to hell.
I thought one of the freaky things was the fire siren that kept going and eventually dropped its speed and was drawn out and very eerie
You keep showing the bunny man implying he is the witch, but he isn't. It's just a manifestation of his guilt.
When the witch came through the shaft I was like yep she real. And my jaw dropped. That was freaky scary.

I love these types of horror films as oppose to ones that are just slashers and depend fully on gore.
Adam Scott was great and I loved Jerry and Alby. I wanted more of con the owner. He was creepy and captivating and I kept waiting for him to reappear.
Anyone saying Hokum is "not perfect" is a fool. Perfection is an illusion. My view is that this is one hell of a complex psychological horror in which Ohm journeys into his psyche to confront something far darker than any witch.

Idk if its just me but the movie had some definite psychological indie horror game vibes and elements

I saw this yesterday and this movie was awesome. There was some gaps but not enough to ruin the movie. A must see.
How did Fiona die? That’s the only flaw in the perfect movie. She was in the dumbwaiter without a chalk outline. Why didn’t the witch get her? She stayed in there and died of dehydration, plenty of time for the witch to snag her.
The witch and him tripped about the donkey man are separated
but i still have so many questions- did the witch get fiona? was she locked in the honeymoon suite or in the dumbwaiter? why wouldn’t the witch have gotten her too because she’s a known sinner/adulterer. Just saying if the witch is someone who takes people for their “sins”. Another thing - is the hotel sacrificing people ? what’s up with all the tokens hanging from the ceiling when Ohm claims the honeymoon suite key? And how/when/at what point does Alby get the mushrooms from Jerry to spike Ohms whiskey? Why are these people just hanging out with homeless men like that? what is the symbolism of the goats and the bells? or the old man knowing the story of the witch if it’s just a manifestation of Ohms guilt?
I have only seen this movie once, in the theater, great time, and i think I got this movie, and it was really good.
Great horror movie, great representation if Irish culture. For that fact alone he has my theatrical purchases from now on. I'm impressed as well as my wife. Good film. Could loose 15 mins but that's all modern movies 😅
