Regarded by many as the greatest Zombie movie of all time I think that when you think of films on the undead…then this is probably gonna be the title that first springs to mind. Dawn of the Dead was the film that really established zombie films as their own genre and it paved the way for everything that followed it.

46:58 - The blonde zombie who attacks Roger in the truck was played by makeup assistant Jeanie Jefferies who in 2024 was the subject of a short documentary called, appropriately enough, 'Jeanie's Face Exploded'. 1:10:11 - You can just about see George Romero's other cameo as a biker wearing a Santa suit.

I have a Trivia point for this and the 2004 remake :) The Helicopter in this is the SAME helicopter in the opening sequences in the remake! The wanted to paty Homage so they edited THAT helicopter into it. Bonus: The little girl in the opening scene of remake was pulled up by wire to give the "jump" but she kept laughing when they did it because it was "so cool"

Appreciate you reviewing this masterpiece of a movie. I know a lot of people like the 2004 version and the fact that the zombies were runners. I still like this one better. I saw this movie in the theater when it was released and loved it. BTW, that was George Romero, at the beginning, sitting next to the young lady at the TV station who said, "Get me another list." Also in the beginning of the movie, Fran calls Stephen her boyfriend, David. "Meet me on the roof at 9 o'clock.".... "Wait, David, we can’t." Good catch identifying Joseph Pilato as one of the officers a the police dock scene. He was excellent as Capt. Rhodes in Day of the Dead. RIP to David (Fly Boy) Emge, who passed in 2024.
I saw the remake in theaters back in 2004 and it was one of the best theater experiences I’ve ever had. So much fun.
One my all time favourite movies. There is so many samples ripped from this movie Gorrilaz sample a tune from it but the most obscure is a track called Interlude by AIM.

This was one of the very first horror films I saw after I rather brazenly strolling into movie night at a pub aged 15😯. I soon regretted it bc I was shit scared but I’d already bought a pint & refused to leave without drinking it😌. Brilliant film - & excellent breakdown narrative! Thank you!💕
