Something I just put together about Ohm's "attempt". That following black/white scene where he hears the witch wailing in the dark from the elevator was literally him being dead and about to get dragged to Hell. He was saved by the combination of Fiona and his mother's spirit which is why he survives to wake up in the hospital.

I love the creepy donkey character not just because it's scary, but it's so representative of his shame. It was literally staring at him when the accident happened, and comes back to leer at him when he's coming to terms with everything on the mushrooms while he's trapped

I watched the movie last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd be lying if I said I understood everything perfectly through the first watch. You've done an exceptional job at explaining a simple yet complex film with seemingly a lot of moving parts. Best explanation I've seen so far. Great work, and your intentional omission of AI-generated information is greatly appreciated. Great video!

thank you! I watched this video instead of actually watching the movie because I just don't do well with horror films, especially if they involve hauntings and dead mothers (that's a whole other thing that I won't unpack here) and I think I'll probably watch the movie at some point, even though I now know what it's about and how it all gets resolved... it's just something I need before I'm willing to watch certain types of horror films specifically, otherwise I'll really have a bad time during and after the movie. I found this video really entertaining and your delivery style was very engaging! You've got yourself a new subscriber!

i had a totally different interpretation coming out of this movie 😭 i'm glad this video exits, it cleared up a lot. a motif i picked up throughout the movie is how humans share compassion. Fiona was a compassionate character. Even though Ohm was a dreadful person, she still saw him on a human level and helped him during his lowest moment. Jerry, a man clouded with a dark past, was influenced by Fiona's friendship and went back to the hotel for Ohm because he knew it was the right thing to do. I also felt this motif towards the end with the conquistador and the little boy. It was an really impactful moment for me when the little boy decided to throw the bottle away. One of our core principals as humans is compassion, it's what makes us so special. And when we experience the hardships of life and hold onto the pain, that ability gets buried away. Ohm, Jerry, and Mal are broken men who have been warped by their experiences and are unable to push past their conflict. Mal was crazy lol, but at least for Ohm and Jerry, Fiona lit a lantern for them to face the past. I can go on about this movie :P it's one of the best I have watched this year and a favorite!

Confession: I originally thought the actor was Shane Madej from Unsolved and thought "The nerve of this guy to gaslight Ryan all these years on the supernatural being real just to turn around and star in a horror film."
