French girl here it’s so trippy because I’m pretty sure I’ve been to the arkose you climbed at today 😂 They only allow liquid chalk (I assume they had one too many accidents with chalk bags to clean up). Also it’s rarer than in the US to see people in athleisure but common enough that nobody will do a double take. Hope you’re enjoying Paris ! :)

Most gyms forbid the use of regular chalk bc it gets annoying (flies everywhere, easy to spill, some climbers use waaaay too much, I think also irritates lungs but don’t quote me on that). So liquid chalk it is! Also, no one will stare if you’re wearing athleisure buuut I think most people would wear it for gym time only - would be weird at the restaurant for example. Also depends on what kind of clothes!

french girl here as well, it’s more common now to see some people wearing gym clothes on the street but it’s mostly teens and tourists and still viewed as tacky, you’re doing a great job being a part of the culture! i hope you enjoy a lovely and deserved trip

Les sales voleurs republique, has a decreasing price, the cheapest day is 95 cents(Thursday), and the most expensive one is 4,50(Friday). I have found pretty cool stuff there! They also have other locations, but this one is my favorite

No one really cares if you wear gym clothes out. It’s a big city and people have other things to think about. And btw, I live in Paris and I love it here - it’s such an underrated city!
