I have brought this up with friends Voss coached the gamestyle that he played and was good at. When players couldn’t play that way he struggled as a coach. Bucks was exactly the same at the pies, tried to coach precision passing game and hard tackling to get ball back. When pies didn’t have players who could do it then they went down the ladder.
Voss is one of the greatest players ever.. Pity he wasn’t the coach we thought he’d be… Coaching Carlton is a dangerous job… I wouldn’t do it.. Expectations r far too great…

Here's a fact that should be more widely known and talked about - three of the most successful coaches of the 2000's - Mark Thompson, Damian Hardwick and Chris Fagen - all took exactly 8 seasons before they won their first premiership! Alistair Clarkson too - won an upset in 2008 but then took another 4 or 5 seasons before the Hawks became a powerhouse. What's the lesson to be learnt? They need to find a coach that's going to grow with the team. Shows gradual improvement each year. So a younger guy who has the energy and patience. You don't want an older guy who can't afford to wait 5-10 years. I'd be counting out the experienced coaches for this reason. A James Kelly or Corey Enright type would be my pick.
Simpson, ffs, Kingy always pushes him up. Completely ruined the Eagles after Mitchell coached the midfield to a flag, buyer beware.
Put Morris in the bin where he belongs
This is laughable. 2-3 years ago King was saying how good the list is the premiership window is open.
Mitchell took over a Hawthorn club who had already won 4 Premierships this century. The "challenge" he faced isn't remotely close to the one facing the next coach of Carlton. Mitchell is a good coach but he's yet to achieve what McRae did within 2 years or C. Scott did in year 1. The desperation for Cornes to have Mitchell fulfill his genius tag and the continued love fest is vomit inducing.
It time to piss the ceo of and the board as well all need to take responsibility for the mess the club is in.
