EuroDENV 2026: Learning from Asia

As global temperatures continue to rise across both land and sea, new challenges are emerging, including the increased spread of the dengue virus. Warmer weather, coupled with unpredictable and erratic rainfall patterns, creates ideal conditions for mosquito breeding, leading to a surge in dengue cases. This issue is no longer confined to tropical regions such as Southeast Asia. In Europe, climate change is contributing to the shift from imported dengue cases due to tourism to local transmission. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Europe has been identified as the fastest-warming region in the world, with 2024 recorded as the warmest year in the continent’s history. This alarming trend highlights the increasing vulnerability of non-tropical regions to climate-sensitive diseases such as dengue. Therefore, through this social awareness campaign, we aim to inspire the people of this generation to take proactive measures in preventing the spread of dengue. By learning from the experiences and strategies implemented in Malaysian schools (precisely Victoria Institution), where dengue has long been a public health concern, societies can better prepare for and mitigate its impact. #learningfromasia #takeactionnow #beforeitistoolate
