Scrape for the Grape - 2026 Highlights So Far
Loudoun Wildlife is proud to be an official partner with Scrape for the Grape for the first time this year! Now in its third year, Scrape for the Grape is an annual volunteer-driven event designed to combat the invasive Spotted Lanternfly in Loudoun County and protect vineyards, fruit trees, and other crops from its destructive impact. Scrape for the Grape is a registered trademark of Visit Loudoun, and the campaign was launched in 2024 through a partnership between Visit Loudoun, the Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance (LIRA), Loudoun County, the Virginia Cooperative Extension of Loudoun County, and the Loudoun Wineries & Winegrowers Association. It's sponsored again this year by Amazon, and Loudoun Wildlife has stepped in to handle the event's volunteer coordination. This video showcases some of inspiring highlights from the first two weekends of this year's three-weekend event. Stay tuned for a full recap soon, but records have already been shattered in terms of number of volunteers (over 1,000) and Spotted Lanternflies destroyed (more than 7 million)!
